Review : Remembrance Sunday

Lest we forget.

Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial, St Mary’s.

It was a cold but fine morning, and there was a goodly crowd from the the Baptist Chapel and St Mary’s, for the usual moving service.  The hymns were accompanied by Bedford Brass who also provided two young trumpeters for the Last Post and Reveille, and Richard Galley played the mournful Pipers Lament.

Review : Harvest

As usual a very enjoyable supper was had by the 60 visitors, with a quiz and raffle to keep busy, and the evening wrapped up with some community singing enthusiastically led by Like Robinson and Andrew Young duetting on the piano.

The Songs of Praise service on the Sunday was another great ‘sing-along’ session, with some interesting readings, and a couple of pieces by our ever more adventurous choir.

Review : Bike ‘n’ Hike

A team of five ladies lead by Anna Hart embarked on an ambitious walk covering 9 miles and 6 Churches in Stevington, Clapham and Bromham (in not too clement weather) and Robert Eadie walked into Bedford (where the churches are rather more closely grouped) and managed to visit 23 churches.  Between them, and with the generous support of sponsors, they raised over £500 for the Historic Churches Trust, of which half comes back to our Parish.
