The Travelling Crib

Room in the Inn…..

There is an old Mexican custom known as Posada which uses the idea of people dressed as Mary and Joseph travelling round their village knocking at doors to enquire who might give them hospitality. Our Stevington Travelling Crib, following this tradition, is blessed  on Advent Sunday and starts its journey, completing the journey at Christmas.

All are warmly encouraged to take part:  individuals, families, old and young to offer a resting place to the Crib for the night. You become both Travellers and Hosts in turn and are given a few words of explanation and contact details beforehand. Those who have agreed to take part are asked to take responsibility for contacting the people either side of them on the journey to make arrangements which suit them both. Thus, the Crib makes its journey from one house to the next through Advent.

If you would like to take part, please sign the board in the Church Room, as we need to plan the journey. Should you like to know more details, please contact Alison during the coming weeks. Alison 826352 [email protected]
